Printing Techniques

Flexographic printing is generally recognised as the industry’s preferred label printing process and is the main process used at Adstik. The process uses rubber or plastic flexible plates that have a raised image which are rotated on a cylinder, and transfers the image to the label stock using a fast-drying ink and continuous feed process. Flexographic technology provides optimum benefits in producing labels with affordable tooling, efficient plate setup, extremely high-speed and high-volume processing, and reliable print quality. Ultimately, this means total costs and lead times for customers are minimised, while print quality is kept to a high standard.

Additional label printing processes available from Adstik are: Letterpress, Foil Stamping, and Screen Printing.

Letterpress is a rotary relief printing process which uses an intermittent feed process. The substrate passes over the plate then re-inserts to the starting position to achieve a continuous print. The printed image is achieved by means of a semi rigid plate which contains the graphics and text to be printed in relief, similar to a rubber stamp. Letterpress printing is ideal for short to medium runs and has the additional benefits of being economical, reasonably fast, able to print spot and process colour, and produce an exceptional print quality.

Foil Stamping (also known as hot stamping) is a special kind of printing process where heat, pressure, dies (metal plates), and a metallic paper (foil) is used to create shiny designs and graphics on various materials. There are various types of foil stamping that can be used depending on your design requirements.

Screen Printing is arguably the most versatile of all printing processes. It can be used to print on a wide variety of materials. A key advantage of screen printing over other print processes is that the press can print on substrates of any shape, thickness and size.
